The Aurical’s Natasha Stegeman Goes Eventing

Published On April 22, 2015 | Fun Stuff

The Aurical’s own Natasha Stegeman is preparing for her second Eventing competition of the year.

NATASHA STEGEMANI am excited to be adding Auric Consulting and The Aurical as my sponsors, as well as with the added bonus of being involved in sponsorship for the competition at Stellenbosch District Riding Club on the 25 and 26 April.

Eventing is an Olympic discipline and it has a reputation for being one of the hardest tests in Equestrian sport. This is because ‘Eventing’ is a three phase affair, where a rider and horse have to master a Dressage test, gallop over a course of testing jumps with a distance varying in kilometres (called the Cross Country phase) and then come back and jump cleanly over a Showjumping course in an arena.

Both horse and rider have to master all three phases with control, extreme fitness and bravery; this is a sport that takes no prisoners and one mistake can cost you dearly.

I often joke that I was born into the equestrian life; so it was an inevitable choice for me to have taken up my reins as competitive rider in my chosen sport of Eventing. The highlight of my experience in the sport was when I competed at 1m level in the ‘Mecca’ of Eventing, England.

My partner in crime, so to speak, is a feisty grey mare called Luna Magic. I have had her since she was a little foal, and she is now nine years old. I have patiently trained her into the jumping machine she is today and at the moment we are competing at EV80 competition with the hope to upgrade to 90cm soon – so I am very excited to see what the future holds for us.

I’ll be hoping for the best this weekend, psyching myself out for some good results and looking forward to a fun weekend!

The Aurical will be sponsoring a Cross Country Jump right near the exciting water complex, and Auric Consulting will sponsor the Adult 80cm Class. Catch us soaking up the atmosphere and watching this super sport in the VIP tent on the Sunday, or support Natasha competing on her striking white horse in the Adult 80cm class on both days.
